The Eyes Have It

I should know better than to try to paint a copy of aother painting !  It is tricky enough if I am deliberately painting a second version of something--although the difference may be entirely in my head, too.  Even then, painting two versions has worked best when they were side-by-side on my board and truly being painted at the same time.  Certainly guarantees the same colours will be used and I should be in the same mood for each, too.

Anyway, this version of Calli was supposed to have a mottled light gray background.  Don't ask !  Sometimes things just don't turn out quite as intended, and then necessity, combined with boundless creativity and enthusiasm, is supposed to take over.  Something took over, for certain.  Actually I do rather like the unusual colour for the background !  It ties in nicely with my love of dark backgrounds, although I do admit that the subject is normally a bit lighter than this cat.  Now to decide if the lesson to be learned is that the cat needs to be brighter, or does the background need to be darker, or .........  Several options appear to further confuse the issue.  I have the answer--

I just LIKE it !
