Palace Memories--NO Rain !

Some things are just for fun--or a challenge !  I happened to have this odd-sized canvas hanging around, and this photo of the guards at Buckingham Palace reappeared in my search for "architectural bits" for my current series. By extending the building to the left, as I know it does, everything fit just right.  I did not want anything to be centred perfectly, either.  There are a few places that would benefit from a tidying, but as I deliberately have painted roughly and loosely (this in not an architectural rendering !) I may just leave them.  All those incredibly aligned identical blocks of smooth stone make me nervous, just knowing that is how they really are, without my trying to reproduce them in much smaller scale.  I may not paint another window for many moons....

We did actually see the Palace, and London, without rain on several days.  There IS a reason why the three of us wound up with matching umbrellas, though !
