On the Pond

This painting is with permission, from a photograph by Paul Czene of Vancouver.  So far, I must admit that I still prefer the photo !  I have made two versions so far, after the first turned out to be much too dark.  I did name it "Nocturne", though, after the second attempt was indeed much lighter.  Version Three looms....I think !  It must be possible to capture the interesting impact of that original photograph.

At any rate, it is now on display at Wellspring's ArtWalk, at my venue for the summer, Jensen's Menswear in Olds, Alberta.  ArtWalk runs from June 18 thru October 2 this summer; it is a collaboration between our artists and local businesses in 5 small towns in the Olds, area.  A map/brochure is available in each shop, which is easily spotted by the numbered sign-board outside, and those who get their map stamped at each location (you have several months, remember !) are eligible for a nice prize to be presented at out Fall Show in mid-October, 2016.  This touring of the different displays makes a great occupation for out-of-town guests, and one can even buy some great artwork !
