Knifing practise
Acrylic on Paper 11 in x 15 in Not For Sale
This practise knife painting can't really blame the problems on the painting knife ! I fear that the composition got lost in the fun of using the knife, with the result that now I can't tell whether it is the sky or the land that is to be the focus. With a bit of thought I may be able to rescue it ! I was intending to paint the third of the series from the Wirral photo by Chris Smith, but the urge to try the knife with it was just too great. I will still paint one that "matches" the first two in style, though.
After a few days with this one on view on the fridge, I have simplified the masts, and made the remaining ones a bit taller and heavier--the balance is better now. I am rather coming to like the different style ! Turns out that it is a good idea to keep the odd globs of paint on one's palette for several days--it sure simplified making the small changes that I wanted.
