Little Wren

Little Wren is one of those serendipitous efforts that really seem to paint themselves. I am still boggle-eyed over the tiny fluffy feathers of his rump, and that the last one that I put on didn't become a huge blob (relatively speaking) and ruin the entire painting !  We have a competition going with our neighbour to see whose nesting boxes attract the wrens each year.  Neighbour won this year, but we still hear them singing lustily from our trees as well as from his.  The power of their voice is amazing for their tiny size.  I do wish that they were more cautious about feeding in the grass.  Our cat can't get them, but the one next door certainly puts them at risk, as they seem oblivious to the danger that they are in.

The private collection it is now in waffles between mine and my husband's, but so far we haven't fought over possession. Right now it sits on the dining room table, where we both can enjoy it at will.

It is so exciting when one of these miracles occurs !
